Steve Joynt Collection
Some people know Steve Joynt as Mr. Mask.
He founded Mobile Mask, The Reveler’s Guide to Mardi Gras, in 2012. He built up the website, annual magazine, and Facebook page for 13 years, winning eight Nappies along the way. In 2025 he sold Mobile Mask to Lagniappe and retired.
Prior to that, he spent nearly 30 years in the newspaper business, including 11 years as an editor at the Press-Register.
But Steve has also had a side gig that he named Thrown Art, starting more than 20 years ago.
Since 2009, he has had a permit to sell art on Jackson Square in New Orleans, which he does from time to time.
In 2022, he had an exhibition at the Mobile Arts Council gallery called Thrown Art: 27 Pieces of Folly and Mysticism.
Now his artistic home is at Lupercalia.
