Saint Joe

The background suggests chaos while he is defiantly and triumphantly sitting in a saintly position. Note the Mardi gras beads in his hand and the use of purple and gold throughout the piece which are the traditional Mobile Mardi Gras colors. The chaos of the background directly correlates with all the government and civil unrest with the war that was happening at the time that Joe Cain did his famous march.- Grantham Unknown
