Mardi Gras Morning

The Excelsior band is Mobile's most historic, most beloved marching band. To see the men ( and the occasional women) in Black marching down the street in the morning of Fat Tuesday, well, that just is Mardi Gras from any Mobilians. I made this piece from the beveled door panel of an old interior door, and the saxophone came from a young man who lives a couple doors down from us. -Steve Joynt
