Shawna Spettel Collection

Shawna Spettel is a potter and acrylic painter based in Mobile, Alabama. By day, she works as a hospice nurse, and in her free time she enjoys reading, crocheting, and finding new creative projects to dive into. For Shawna, creating art is a way of processing the world through her own lens of life—one brushstroke and mud bath at a time.

Most days, she can be found covered in clay, glaze, paint splatters, or all of the above. Her work often leans whimsical and coastal, inspired by sea breezes, sunsets, and pieces that don’t take themselves too seriously. At the same time, she also creates work that reflects elegance, intention, and purpose.

Shawna has been throwing pottery for about five years, with thanks to the wonderful folks at Moonstruck Pottery, and has been painting for about fifteen years. Largely self-taught, she has developed her style through experimentation, curiosity, and plenty of happy accidents. Coming from a long line of artists and creatives, making things has always felt both innate and necessary.

She was honored to receive Best in Show for the Fleur-de-Lis contest at Central Arts Collective and continues to challenge herself creatively, always looking for new ways to grow in both skill and expression.
