Heather Marie Stewart Collection
Heather Marie Stewart is an award winning American Mixed-Media Artist, born in Richmond, VA, and currently residing on the Alabama Gulf Coast. She is an Air Force veteran and a recently retired FBI Tech Manager, now full-time artist. Heather’s artistic proclivities include plaster-cast mask making and sculpture, hand building with clay, throwing pottery, heavy body acrylics, amigurumi, jewelry and silversmithing.
Heather has been a creative her entire life. As a child, she would read comic books and pencil sketch the superheroes. Eventually, using colored pencils, brush markers, and acrylic paint, she would create comic strips. By the time Heather was attending VCU School of Arts, her medium of choice was plaster-casting, but soon her attention turned to the US Air Force, where she served 14 years. Military service does not lend well to creative time, so it was not until her return to civilian life that she discovered a passion for making beaded jewelry and silversmithing. Since moving to Mobile, AL, Heather has added fluid and heavy texture acrylics to her artistic repertoire, but currently her primary focus is mask making, impasto painting, and pottery.

“There is something intriguing about mixing your colors according to a mood or a feeling, and knowing what you want your finished piece to look like, but the mystery of how it may turn out. There is an excitement about waiting for your paint to dry, and a certain addiction to the vibrant fluidity of it all...” — HMS
