Grantham Unknown Collection

Originally starting as a street Artist from New Orleans, Grantham Unknown painted live and sold art on most of the streets in the French Quarter in New Orleans, as well as the French Quarter Art gallery on Decatur Street. He has shown from Canal Street and Jackson Square, to Frenchmen Street and everywhere in between.

His goal as an artist is to allow the viewer a brief vacation from life around them, while they get lost in the pieces he creates.

Grantham paints thought provoking and emotionally relatable images with the goal of capturing freeze frame moments of the narrative of life. He likes to use uneven lines, splatters and emotional paint strokes. He often uses his fingers, and when you look closely at his paintings you will find fingerprints. His goal is to paint the idea of the image and colors, but not paint it complete. This gives an opportunity for the viewer to participate in the art by allowing their mind to fill in the spaces and colors that in their heart they know should be there, as they interpret the pieces uniquely to themselves.

In short, the Art of Grantham Unknown is to create narrative pieces to ignite a narrative experience. He has coined the term to best use to describe his art as... "ruin impressionism", or "grit art".
